WHAT IS VUELTA IBIZA KAYAK REALLY ABOUT?
To understand what VIK is, it’s important to first understand what it is not: Vuelta Ibiza Kayak is not a trip to tick off a list, it’s not a conventional guided excursion, nor is it a comfortable holiday with a minute-by-minute planned schedule.
It is a multi-day journey, a participatory kayak expedition where the sea sets the pace and the group becomes part of the journey.
You arrive carrying haste, routines, and noise in your head. You paddle, you share, you collaborate… and little by little you return to a more natural rhythm, far from everyday noise.
If you’re someone who doesn’t like having everything done for you, then VIK is for you.
Here, you come to take part.
To paddle without rushing.
To help when needed.
To live alongside people who, like you, feel the need to pause and reconnect with something more essential.
Ibiza from the sea is a different island: hidden coves, silence, untouched nature, and a feeling of disconnection that’s hard to find on land.
What happens during the journey?
Every week is different, but some things always happen:
🤝 At the beginning of the week, we hold a presentation, an initial briefing, and a basic introduction to sea kayaking.
🌿 We paddle every day at a calm pace adapted to the group.
🧭 We access uncrowded coves, many of them only reachable by sea.
😊 We share effort, calm, laughter, and silence.
🧠 We learn about kayaking, the sea, weather, and the natural environment almost without realizing it.
✨ We discover a wild Ibiza, invisible from the coast.
💪 We receive constant support and guidance.
🤿 We stop to swim, rest, or simply float while looking at the sky.
🐚 We listen to explanations about history, wildlife, and the landscape.
It’s not about getting there fast, but about being there.
A team journey
Vuelta Ibiza Kayak is a collective and participatory experience. The group is an essential part of the journey.
At different moments, the group collaborates in simple tasks such as moving and preparing the kayaks, loading luggage and food onto the support boat, setting “the table” for breakfast or dinner, and sometimes even collecting rubbish that the sea brings into the coves, helping to improve the environment.
👉 This doesn’t reduce comfort: it creates connection. Participation builds a sense of group and a real bond with both the environment and the people around you.
What is a typical day like at VIK?
We know that a week-long kayak journey can raise many questions, so here’s how a normal expedition day usually unfolds:
Morning 🌅☕️
Before imagining yourself paddling all day like an athlete, think of something different: an outdoor breakfast by the sea, with the people sharing the journey with you. Conversations flow, laughter appears, and the day begins without rush.
Afterwards, the group packs up the gear together. There’s always time for a refreshing swim, to observe what the underwater world offers us, or simply to sit and look at the sea or enjoy the first rays of morning sun.
Before heading out on the water, the guides explain sea conditions and organize the group between single and double kayaks. Changing paddling partners is part of the journey and helps build cohesion.
We start paddling 🚣 💪
The journey begins, always accompanied by the guides.
One guide in a kayak opens the route, sets the pace, and discovers caves, passages between rocks, or unexpected corners.
Another guide closes the group with the support boat, available for any need that may arise.
Everything is designed so you feel safe and in professional hands.
Lunchtime 🍉🥗
Midday, we land in a cove to have lunch with the food each person brings or buys during stops near supermarkets.
These are calm moments to rest, share stories, and enjoy the surroundings. There’s always time for another swim or even a short nap in the shade.
Afternoon and end of the stage 😊🌤️
In the afternoon, we resume paddling calmly, always mindful of good hydration and sun protection.
You’ll experience conversations, laughter, and shared silence as we move toward the end of the stage.
Upon arrival, depending on the day, there may be time to enjoy the beach a bit longer or even a well-earned cold, unexpected beer at a beach bar.
The sea is never exactly the same, and Ibiza gives you what you need in each moment.
As the sun sets, the group once again prepares “the table” for dinner together. It’s usually a time to recall the day’s anecdotes, strengthen bonds, or listen to stories about the constellations above our heads.
Little by little, sleep sets in and some people quietly head off to rest. Tomorrow will be another day…
What if the sea or weather doesn’t cooperate? 🌬️⚠️
Safety is always our priority. Without safety, there is no enjoyment.
If conditions don’t allow us to go out, the kayaks stay on land and the stage is not replaced on foot or by transport.
That day often becomes an unexpected gift: time to rest, recover energy, or explore the surroundings at a different pace. There are usually simple treks around our stopping points that offer a different perspective of the island.
As sea guides with more than 100 full circumnavigations of the island between us, we know the area well and can suggest simple nearby options—and even join you. But keep in mind that any decisions you make that day are always under your own responsibility.
In summary
Vuelta Ibiza Kayak is not about doing everything perfectly.
It’s about sharing the journey.
It’s about disconnecting from the noise and reconnecting with yourself through the sea.
